What it is
Adipotide (also called Prohibitin-Targeting Peptide 1 / Prohibitin-TP01 or FTPP, "Fat-Targeted Proapoptotic Peptide") is an experimental peptidomimetic studied as an anti-obesity agent that selectively destroys the blood supply of white fat tissue.[1][3] It is NOT an approved drug — its only human trial was a Phase 1 study in prostate-cancer patients, and clinical development was discontinued in 2019.[5][7]
How it works
Adipotide is a two-part molecule (sequence CKGGRAKDC-GG-D(KLAKLAK)2): a homing sequence that binds the receptor prohibitin (and annexin A2) found on the blood vessels feeding white adipose tissue, fused to a pro-apoptotic peptide that disrupts mitochondrial membranes once the cell internalises it.[2][1] By killing the endothelial cells that supply fat, it starves the fat cells of their blood supply so they die and are reabsorbed — a "vascular-targeting" mechanism unlike hormonal or appetite-based weight-loss drugs.[2][6]

Most important: The dominant danger is kidney damage: dose-dependent renal proximal-tubule injury was the primary side effect in primate studies, and the human Phase 1 trial was terminated for nephrotoxicity, with the proapoptotic payload thought to harm renal tubular cells as the kidney clears the peptide.[6][8] Renal effects were "predictable, dose-dependent and reversible" in monkeys, but the human therapeutic window between effective and kidney-damaging doses proved too narrow, and no human safety profile was ever established.[7][5]

Dosage context
No human dose has ever been established and there is no prescription form. The only primate data used ~0.43 mg/kg subcutaneously daily (with reported ranges up to ~0.5–1.0 mg/kg/day) for 28 days, at which doses dose-dependent kidney toxicity appeared — these are animal-research figures, not a human prescription, and the human therapeutic window proved too narrow for safe use.[2][5] Any quoted "protocol" online is extrapolated from animal studies and is not validated for human safety.[7]
