What it is
Adamax is an experimental research peptide — a modified analogue of the Russian nootropic neuropeptide Semax, itself a synthetic fragment analogue of the hormone ACTH(4–10)[2][5]. It is studied as a neurotrophic/nootropic compound (cognition, neuroprotection, recovery), is sold only as a "research use only" chemical, and is not an approved drug, supplement, or proven performance enhancer[1][4][7].
How it works
Adamax couples an N-acetylated Semax peptide core (Ac-MEHFPGP) to an adamantyl/adamantane group borrowed from the neurotrophic peptide P021; the adamantane modification is intended to increase enzymatic stability, lipophilicity and blood-brain-barrier penetration[2][3]. Its proposed action is borrowed from its parents: Semax raises brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and increases TrkB receptor signalling in the hippocampus, supporting synaptic plasticity, while also modulating serotonergic, dopaminergic and cholinergic systems[5][6]. P021 likewise increases BDNF expression (partly by inhibiting LIF signalling) to promote neurogenesis[8]. Crucially, these mechanisms are established for Semax and P021 in animal/cell models — direct mechanistic data on Adamax itself in humans does not exist[1][7].
Risks & side effects
Most important: The single most important thing to know is that Adamax has no established human safety profile — there are no published human clinical trials of Adamax, and what little reassurance exists is extrapolated from its parent compound Semax[7][9]. It is sold strictly as a "research use only" chemical, not for human consumption, so purity, dose and long-term effects are genuinely unknown[1][4].
